Arriving at Avignon TGV station, the car rental offices (National, Hertz, Citer) are on your right as you exit the station.  The TGV station is a little way out of town.  Just follow the signs to Avignon.  You will see the river on your left.  After a couple of kilometres take a right fork following Centre Ville (if you see the famous bridge you have gone too far and will need to do a U-turn).  At the first set of lights bear right and you should see the ramparts on your left and a little further on, the SNCF railway station on your right.  Keep going through two sets of lights, past a Shell Service Station, two more sets of lights, then turn right at these signs:

A white sign - Apt 

Stay on this road for some time.  Stay in the lane closest to the centre. When you arrive at a very large intersection, you will see lanes turning to the left and right. Go straight ahead.  Follow these signs:

A white sign - Apt

There are trees down the centre of this road.  This is the commercial centre of Avignon Sud.  You will see a  Mercedes showroom on your right, a stadium on your left and a Novotel hotel on your right.  Then a roundabout. Follow the same signs. You will pass a large Castorama sign on your left and then a large MacDonalds and then an Auchan Supermarket and an ancient tower on your right. You will come to a roundabout.  Go straight on following these signs:

A white sign - Apt

Continue on this road, with the river on your right. A few kilometres further, you will come to a major turn off.  Follow the new signs:
A green sign - Sisteron/Digne
A white sign - Apt
You are now on the D22.  Continue until you come to an intersection with stop signs.  Turn right onto the N100.  Follow these signs:
A green sign - Digne
A white sign - Apt
You are now about 24 kilometres from Apt.  Stay on this road

When you get to Apt, go straight through the town.  You will see a left hand turning over a bridge (keep straight on), Crédit Agricole Bank on your right and then a large car park on your right.  At the mini roundabout take the smaller of the three exits.  It is signposted to Saignon.

We will meet you in Saignon village by the fountain in La Place de la Fontaine (the main square) outside the Auberge du Presbytère hotel.  We will then take you to Solièra Cottage, help you to unload your car and show you where to park.  There will be fresh bread, local cheese and wine on your arrival.  Your holiday has begun!
