Provence is located in southern France. It borders the Mediterranean; its southwest coast is situated on the Gulf of Lion; Italy borders it to the northeast; and the French island of Corsica lies southeast in the Mediterranean Sea.
The Vaucluse region is situated in western Provence. It stretches from the Rhône Valley in the south to the foothills of the Alps in the east. Saignon is less than 60 kilometres east of Avignon.
The medieval village of Saignon is in the Parc Naturel de Lubéron in the heart of Provence. Marked on the map is the lively market town of Apt which is only 4 kilometres down the valley from Saignon.
